How to use Pinterest SEO to get more traffic
How’s your Pinterest SEO game? Are you using Pinterest keywords to make sure you show up in the Pinterest search results?
This is the biggest mistake I see new pinners making… NOT putting any effort into their Pinterest SEO.
You might be wondering, “what the heck is Pinterest SEO?” Well… SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.
You see, Pinterest is NOT a social network. Meaning that you do not need to put your time and energy into growing your followers when you’re just starting out. In fact, you can get tons of traffic from Pinterest without having a ton of followers.
How? By showing up when someone searches for what you have to offer on Pinterest. You can get your pins seen by YOUR ideal customers by using popular keywords in your pin descriptions, along with a couple other key places.
Pinterest is a search engine. They say about 83% of pinners are using the search feature every day to find the things they’re looking for.
If this is true, then you can get your pins seen by thousands of pinners just by showing up in the search results… without having a huge following of your own.
So, do you know if you’re showing up for your target keywords on Pinterest? Do you even know what people are searching for within your topic?
Keyword research on Pinterest is so important! If you’re not doing this right then you could be leaving tons of traffic on the table.
I really encourage you to take some time to research popular Pinterest keywords. Today, I’m going to show you how you can easily find the perfect keywords that will skyrocket your pins to the top of the search…
You can get started by using the Trends tool on Pinterest to see what is the most search for phrases under your topic. Head here to check it out!
Pinterest SEO keyword placement:
1. Your Profile Name and Bio
Adding popular search terms in your profile name on Pinterest will help pinners (and the Pinterest algorithm) understand what type of content you pin. It will also help your profile show up when people are searching for accounts with these topics.
2. Your Board Names
This is very important! You want to name your boards with keywords so Pinterest can understand what the board is about. Use the board description to add supporting keywords that will be included in your pins titles and descriptions. Here is an example: Name your board Digital Planners, not Plan Your Day!
3. Your Pin Title and Description
Pinterest can read your pin image, title, and description to figure out what your pin is about and who to show it to. This is where you want to add your main keyword along with your supporting keywords. Use your main keyword in the pin title and add 3-5 supporting keywords in the description of your pin. You want to naturally weave them into sentences that make sense for your reader.
There is a great keyword tool finder I use called Pin Inspector. It makes this whole process much faster. Click here to check it out.
